when you download something (song, ringer,picture,etc) the size of it is measured in kilobytes and some phone companies charge by kilobyte while others charge a fee for the song, ringer, or whatever is downloaded.

kilobytes are your memory on your phone pretty much like hard drive space...could be taken up by photos ringtones etc any u download saved messages

You must have used the internet on your phone. It's the way they charge you for using the internet. On Sprint they charge you per minute if you don't have Web service on your phone, and then they list how many kbs you used.

It is more of how much space you have used to add contacts, web downloads or save text messages. A cell phone has storage space...much like a computer does...and when u download or save data , info, etc., to your phone you take up space.
