There is a specific setting. On your home page (the first page you see when you sign in), click on "Account Settings" (it's next to your picture).

Then, click on privacy settings.

Then, uncheck the box that says "Friend Requests - Require email or last name".

This should do the trick.

If you wanted to be added to a list you have to give some information. If being added to a person's list later becomes a problem then you can block their communications and delete them from your friends list. If you're worried that your email account will be deluged with unwanted emails you can always create a new free email account somewhere and use this address first. If it becomes unusable you just discard the email address and create a new one. Unused email accounts are often deleted after a few months if not used. Hope that helps. Good luck!

On the top bar in the search section you are able to find somebody by their MySpace username. You also have a unique URL, which may just be a number, unless you created one. If you sign in and click view profile you can then copy the address at the top and tell your friends to visit the URL.
