It's a personal decision. I'm sure this will get alot of bad ratings but I'm going to tell you anyway...
When my oldest daughter was born, she had this long patch of hair on the crown of her head. It was thick and wavy and in the shape of a circle and, well, it just looked wierd because the rest of head was bald. Finally after 10 days (yes she was 10 days old), I cut it. My mother in law was completely outraged, but I did it and I'm so glad I did! She's 8 now and has a beautifully thick head of hair that any woman would kill to have!
My 2nd daughter was 2 weeks when I trimmed the long hair on the nape of her neck.

It depends on the length of their hair. My first daughter had hair to her shoulder at birth so at one year old she would not have been able to see if she had not had her hair either cut or put up! My second is 8 months old and she still has little hair growth since birth, so it is really not an age thing, just personal preference. If you need to take them to a salon phone and ask them ahead of time. You usually have them sitting on your lap if under 1 year old.

I think that totally depends on YOU as the parent. At least until the child is old enough to make their own decision.
I have a 6 yr old little girl that has only had her hair trimmed a couple of times.
Her hair is past her butt and she loves it that way. It is her decision on if she wants it cut or not and right now she wants it long.
There are so many cute ways that we can fix her hair and she loves all the cute little bows, ribbons, hair ties....etc that they have for little girls hair these days.
But as I said....it is totally up to the parent and how long they want their child's hair to be. When your child is old enough to decided or say " mom, I wanna hair cut", then let them decide for themselves.

Whenever they need it! My oldest son is 26 months old, and we are just about to cut it now for the first time. He has beautiful curly blond hair, but it's finally at the point of being too long (people think he's a girl). It's going to kill me to cut it, but it has to be done.

I was 13 months when I got my first hair cut. But it just depends on how long your infants hair is. If it is getting in his/her eyes then it's time for a trim. If you think it's getting too long/bothersome for your baby, then it's time. You will be able to tell, there's really no age set for a first one. Just follow your mommy instincts on this one. Good luck.

I only got my kids' hair cut when they were 20 months! Admittedly, my son's hair should have been cut sooner. It would depend on how fast their hair grows. I took them to Great Clips because I didn't want to try doing it myself.

They should get a hair cut when they need one. No point in prolonging it, and letting their hair go in their faces. I know it kills you the first time, but you gotta do it sooner or later.

When their hair gets long enough that it doesn't lay nicely or looks like it needs a trim...every baby is different so it will depend. Ask a beautician or the ped.
