ok so tomorrow i am visiting a private high school that i am probably going to go to starting in a month, and to them, i want to look like i was popular at my old school (don't worry, they won't know the people at my old school, i'm moving halfway across the country). when i meet the other people, how do i make a good first impression and have them think "yup, she's popular" (not exactly like that, but you know what i mean).
and also
this is high school, 9th grade
not elementary school
not college
yup.

thank you!!

well, it is a great time to start fresh. just smile A TON & be super friendly. talk to everyone. it is all about first impressions & being outgoing.

of course, you want to be yourself too. never compromise that for popularity because it isn't worth it. you won't be happy.

i got in with the popular people when i started going to a new school. i thought that would be what i always wanted, but the next year i just abandoned them for people who actually were my friends. i just didn't mesh with those girls. i was much happier just being friends with the people i liked! give it a go though! you only live once!!!

i was halfway through 9th grade when i made that switchover. now i am a senior in college. i still don't regret a thing.

Just try to be yourself. Be open with people, laugh and smile a lot, and don't hide in the back row. Start conversations with people and don't wait around for them to come up to YOU.

And knowing how some kids can be cruel and knowing that clothes DO make a difference........Hopefully you can afford to fit in with the clothes that everyone else is wearing, shoes, purses...whatever.

While your visiting pay close attention to the style of clothing that everyone else is wearing, their hairstyles, etc.

As much as we parents would love to tell you kids that material items don't matter........they DO in this time and age. Especially at school.

Good luck, and I hope you make tons of friends and that this change is a positive and good thing for you.

I had to move high schools and I was scared to death. I was only moving across town so other girls at my new school already kinda had it out for me because I was a cheerleader and popular at my old school. Knowing this I just went in there and was nice and introduced myself to every person in my classes and just smiled alot. I was lucky bc some of the popular kids asked me to sit at their table. A new girl asked to sit at our table and we said of course, so that is an option too. Be yourself, be positive and don't try too hard. Hope that helps!

Try to be nice and friendly. Be outgoing and if your private school has skirts, do not roll them up to make them shorter! That's what almost every private high school does and it makes others feel bad if they don't do it. Don't wear dark or too bright make up and keep your hair looking normal. Remember to be outgoing!
Hope I helped.

Don't worry about trying to be popular. Best thing is trying to focus on your education.

just look your best and make sure to smile, and if someone talks to you then answer them with a smile, but otherwise, go on and mingle
