I recently bought a house with a warranty and I have been having this problem with my dishwasher, I've had the warranty company send out a dishwasher repairperson to look at it, and he said it was a problem with draining the dirty water, so a plumber came out and said there was nothing wrong and that I have to run the garbage disposal for at least 5 min before I run the dishwasher. This only halfway alleviates the problem. So I don't know where the problem is, the dishwasher or the disposal. Any advice?

Look under the bottom spray arm and see if there is a filter than can be removed and cleaned. That worked for me. The filter in my machine had some goo around it (from using liquid detergents-- they kinda gum up) and quite a bit of that fine dirt like you see on top of your glasses. It still needs cleaning from time to time, though not as much since I went back to powders. Cascade seems to work best.

I can't believe the disposal would have much to do with your problem. I've never heard of that.

I don't know about the disposal part because when we bought our house (new) it didn't have a disposal and the same thing happened with our dishwasher. I have noticed that there is more grime when the bottom rack is really full. I was wondering if it was the water pressure or something.

I would have the dishwasher repairman check the spray bar at the top inside of the dishwasher. It may be blocked and water may not be flowing through it to rinse the top of the dishes off. We had the same thing happen to us and they replaced the dishwasher.
Good Luck. Hope this helps.

Here is my best tip for cleaning flip flops. My sister bought flops in every color from Old Navy and this trick made them look brand new. Make a paste with Biz powdered laundry booster and water. Smear it all over the flops and let them sit for a bit, then use a sponge to rub them a bit. Rinse well and they are good as new! Oh, and wear gloves because the Biz can be a bit rough on your hands.

run water in a large clear glass, and let it sit overnight, you might see dirt settled to the bottom. If you don't, it has to be the dishwasher. No one else has to run the disposer for five minuets.

make sure all your glasses and bowls lean enough for the water to fall of the lips of the botttoms. the heaviness of the dirt may not let it escape and pool with ther dirt
