Some idiot called me at 2 am on New Year's Eve and asked me something I'm not going to say on the internet. They blocked their number so I couldn't see it, and I want to know who it was...is it possible?

Oh, and this was nothing serious, I'm not even thinking of pressing any kindof charges...thank you who answered....I'm just going to let it go, and not worry about it, which I should have done in the first place.

You can do something about it. Look in your yellow pages under phone services (or something similar). Get the number, call them, explain what happened. They can trace the call if you punch in either #57 or *57. I believe the name of the phone division that would handle this is called Hateful Calls.
I've been getting calls just about every day from "Unknown Caller". I called the phone company (Verizon) and was told that if the calls come in before 8 a. m. or after 9 p. m., to punch in #57 or *57. Unfortunately I forget which one. They'll tell you.
I don't know if I will be successful because this jerk calling here is calling between 8 a. m. and 9 p. m. I was told that it could be a business. That makes no sense to me because if I say Hello, the person hangs up. If it were someone in a business, they would continue the call. I also noticed that the longest the ringing goes on is 3 times. My voice mail activiates after 4 rings, so I'm wondering if it's someone who knows me.
Good luck with your trace.

That used to happen to me all of the time, but it was a set up from my evil step-children. They had a profile of me on the Internet and had all sorts of people calling me. Most of them were looking for a "good time." Anyway, there was nothing I could do about it until one of the guys calling gave me the email address associated with the profile.

I hope your problem doesn't go that far and I wish you all of the luck in the world.

Oh, and to answer your question-- I don't think you can find the number.

my friend works with bresnan communications and she said to tell you, there is no way to tell on your own. if the issue is very serious you can file a harassment complaint and note the incident. if it happens again the police might look into it as stalking or dangerous behavior and have the ability to process incoming call records.

for it to get that far though has to be very serious

so in short, unfortunately you might have to just let this one go honey. the feature is there for a reason and if there was a way to find out it would be useless and unused by cowards like your pervert.

not very fair is it?

Calls of this type can be against the law and you can complain to report the calling number to the authorities. You will not ever know who or what number was calling. The authorities handle that.

It is only possible unless you want to press charges. To not deal with this in the future I suggest subscribing to Anonymous Caller ID. Which Prompts your anonymous callers to unblock their phone number or say their name.

you can make it so your phone does not recieve private #s. Here in Tampa you just put *76 and the caller will get a message that you do not recieve private calls, they will have to *82 before they call.
