We are not so different, as we do a lot of what you call "posturing " too. We may enjoy violence at a hockey game, at the movies, but not every one enjoys the real thing. This is a human behavior with wide variance in enactment and pleasure. Most people do not enjoy violence for it's own sake, though they may enact it for a large variety of reasons.

sure they would, if you look up the statics on the corelation of an increse in movie and tv violence you will find that there was a rise in violent crimes comited in those areas, however this doesn't mean that there wouldn't be violence without the movies and tv i think that there may be some kind of interest in violence because a majority of use want to be experience it but the only way for use to do that is by watching it

People "enjoy" violence because it stirs us emotionally. It allows us to feel something. For males, I would say it also speaks to our competitive, dominant, primal side of our nature; which tells us to fight and protect what's ours and to a degree, to stamp out any effort at disrespect. It's also a powerful tool: violence can be used to seperate the weak from the strong and violence has been used for centuries to get things done.
I think human beings secretly respect people who can weild the power of violence like a weapon. I think that's why action movies are popular, because it's controlled aggression being fixated on a particular target with (usually) justification to back it up. Human beings also enjoy people of "action" and violence is the way passion manifests itself in a lot of heterosexual, "alpha" men.

Dont kid yourself. So do humans posture themselves before violence. And it is in our nature to be violent although we have suppressed it for beneficial reasons it is still latent and ready to surface if we need it. And we exist on this planet due to one fact above all else... we are the most violent.

I have noticed that all of those things that you are talking about exist within a 'civilised society'. Perhaps it is the fact that our society has banned or otherwise removed most threats or dangers that we crave violence and horror, Just a thought. Hope this helps.

I call it the "roman mentality." They always had to "one up" themselves. Animals fighting animals. People fighting animals. People fighting people to death. Sex with ANYONE or ANYTHING.
It led to Rome's destruction.
It's the roman mentality --- the more we see the more we want.
Let's hope it won't lead to our destruction.
