No...but it helps.

What you do (at any given time) sets the ' intention ' or tone for days to come.

Hell no. New Year's Day is a time to recover from the massive drinking on New Year's Eve, and has nothing to do with the rest of the year. Anything could happen in a year and it could never be determined by the first day. That's just nonsense.

That's an interesting question and I've never thought about it before. I heard on the radio this morning that you are suppose to sweep all the dirt out of your house before New Years Day so you won't have any dirt in your life during the new year. Guess anything is possible, though I'm not superstitious.

I hope not. I think New Years Day shouldn't count because most people stay up really late, and pig out. New Years Resolutions should start on the 2nd or 3rd. Thats what I'm doing

For years I've had the superstition that what I'm going on the stroke of midnight (where I am, what I'm feeling, etc.) portends the rest of the year.

If you'll indulge me, here's one example. One year, as midnight was striking, I was trying to get up to the stage where my boyfriend was performing. I got completely lost backstage, finding empty corridors and dead ends.

The whole next year was completely reflective of the "empty corridors and dead ends" aspect of the evening.

I think it depends on if you make a new years resolution or not, other then that I think it is just another day.Actually this is a good question sort of time to reflect my past new years to answer your question...I stand by my answer.
Happy New Year!

I really hope not, since I've spent much of the day eating chocolate and wasting time on Y!Answers instead of doing my homework!
