It sure does. Good question. The person answering before me must not own one. You can play the games using your old GameCube controllers as well. They plug in to the four ports on the side of the Wii. Go to Nintendo.com and read about it if you need more info.

Yes, the GameCube games go in the same drive as teh Wii Games.
but as for anything before the Gamecube, you can only play them on the Virtual Console
also, the gamecube games require either a gamecube controller or a classic controller attachment ($30) (Classic controller also works with Virtual Console Games)

I'm not sure if the wii plays gamecube games but i dont think it does because i tried researching it and i haven't found anything that says you can do that. I would try getting a wii online. I got my wii at http://www.doiop.com/wiii . all you do is put in your email address. i got mine in sent out in less than a week.

Yes, the wii can play gamecube games, all thats required is a gamecube controller. which, since you have a gamecube, is I'm sure no problem. you also need a gamecube memory card, which again, i'm sure is no problem.
hope that helped!

yes, it does. i tried playing SA2:battle, super smash bros. meelee, metroid games, resident evil, and naruto: clash of ninja on the wii. it says it clear in the MANUAL. i find it handy for dbz tenkachi budokai ( wii) with a gamecube controller and it works just fine.
