just incase ur puzzled, a TENS machine is this little box attached to two/four pads which u put on ur back. with the box u control a small eletrical current which they claim blocks the pain signals in the early stages of labour. and at £70 - £100 each, they're hardly cheap!

I had TENS with my second and third babies and I found it really helped. I was able to get through it with a small amount of gas and air (but had an epidural with the first!).

Of course it dosn't take away all the pain, but I think it is definetely worth it, I am expecting my fourth and will be getting one this time.

They work best if you put them on in early labour and then build up from there through the settings.

It is best to hire or buy one specially for labour, not a general one, as they are not the same.

Its also worth remembering than the more relaxed you are during labour, and the more you feel confident, the pain will be far less.

Pain is also much worse if lying on your back, it is best to keep in positions with your knees below your hips, to progress quicker and have less pain.

I also used lavendar oil to help with the pain.

Good luck!

A Tens Machine blocks the messages that tell the brain that there is an injury in your calf muscle for example. Thus you cease to feel Pain....They work. I have one. Acupuncture is probably better though as it actually helps effect a cure. Tens do not.

I used a tens in labor it was great although my labour was only 2 hours long. Good luck.

From my birth three people have used my tens and they are men with rugby injuries.

Very early on in labour it takes the edge of the pain. It doesnt take it away but it gives u another feeling to focus on besides pain. Once those contractions are coming fast tho, its no help at all, u cant even feel its on! At that point I suggest an epidural....magic!

Nope, and my sister used to sell them in Florida as they paid the clerks lots of money to sell them, and usually got something back from the insurance companies.

Now, if you ask about acupuncture, yes it does. So amazing.

It gave me more mobility to my leg and back after I was in a car accident, and after I tried other therapy.
My certified acupuncture therapist - insists on a doctor's referral so she writes reports directly to the doctor, and the doctor observes your health and progress.

GOD bless.
