I was really upset when I heard that he died. I (along with other Okies) have watched him since his days at Oklahoma State and I know many others have watched him since he was little. My thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, and teammates. I know its hard losing some one any time but especially around holiday time it can be even worse. I just lost my grandmother right before Christmas and I know I was thinking about how this was the first Christmas with out her and I know that his family will never be able to look at New years the same way. They will probably no longer see it as a time of hope for the new year but as a time of grief in remembering the loss of Darrent. It is really sad.

I agree completely. From what I understand, he was a pretty good guy that had no criminal history or reputation unlike some other thugs that call themselves professional atheletes (see, Tank Johnson, the Cincinnati Bengals).

Apparently the shooting was the result of a squabble between Williams group and another group at a New Years party. Instead of letting whatever had transpired go, the group fired rounds into Williams' limo.

The truly sad part is that the only reason this story is receiving the attention that it is getting is the fact that Williams was a football player. This kind of thing happens on a daily basis in cities across the country. And it hardly raises an eyebrow. It's written off as 'black on black crime' and little outrage is expressed. But because Williams was a fast runner and good at catching a football, it is a tragedy. I sympathize with the Williams family and hope that the police are able to identify the murderers.

People need to start teachign their children that violence is the cause, not the solution to their problems. Its okay to back down; its okay to be the bigger man and walk away. But hey, maybe those guys locked up think it was worth defending their reputations to spend the rest of their lives behind bars.

I think it's really sad that this had to happen right after the Broncos lose to the 49ers. I feel really bad for his family and the Broncos. He was a good player.

it really shocked me. he was a good corner but was in the shadow of Champ Bailey so he's not as wide known as he should be. but it makes you realize that football players are mortal too.
