Talent Agencies are governed by "The Department of State" in the city/state where the agency is located. In New York City a Talent Agency must put up a $5,000 bond to open their business.

Talent Managers do not fall under guidelines of Talent Agents.

A Talent Agency may or may not represent singers. One would have to call every Talent Agency and ask if they represent singers, and what type of singer. Broadway, Opera, etc. In NY agencies represent many Broadway singers.

Sometimes the actor is solely represented by a Talent Manger, as with actor Halle Berry. They have produced projects together.
A manager is valuable because he/she can assist an actor by finding an agent to represent him/her.

Talent Managers are appropriate for kids, because there are few legitimate talent agencies that represent children.

Talent agents often receive checks on behalf of their clients, for their performances. They deposit the checks and issue a check to the actor.

Legitimate Talent Agencies ONLY represent "union actors." SAG, AFTRA, AEA.

Talent Managers do not fall under the guidelines for Talent Agents.

The best way to get a Talent Agency, in a major city, is to be referred to the Agency through a current client. Be sure the agency fits your needs.
