It took an 9 year old to tell me what TORCHWOOD actually stood for.....Does anyone else know?

Yep it's an anagram of doctor who.The producers must have other ideas though.In the series#2 episode with the werewolf it was Queen Victoria who commissioned Torchwood to be built.she didn't know who the doctor was!!

As people have already said, its an anagram of Doctor Who, called that in part so that word of a spin off for Doctor Who wasn't leaked before they were ready.

I think they must have been planning it for quite a while to account for the number of Torchwood references in Doctor Who season 2.

Did you know Jack was coming back to Doctor Who for season 3?
