Model Years 1976 to 1979 International Loadstar 1600 or 1700.
I keep seeing so many different displacements of engines available ranging from a 345 to 404. I want to know the GASOLINE engine that was MOST used in the above application. Thanks in advance.

The most common engine was the 345 or 392 gas engine. I myself prefer the 345. It is a low RPM/high torque motor. Had hydralic lifters so the valves would "float out" at 4000 rpm. Can't hurt the motor. The 345 had a fiber cam gear that can break but the newer models I think went to a metal cam gear if I remember right. They are timed off the number 8 cylinder, if you are ever to do a tune up on a 345. But all of the gas engines are very tough work-horse motors. But parts are getting hard to come by now.

1600 = 304
1700 = 345
1800 = 392

I don't know why you people can't look this stuff up your self!
All you have to do is type in 1979 loadstar 1600 into Yahoo search and you have all the information you need. #@%&
