I have a HP Pavillion N5425 laptop. I also have 3 cats. The fan makes loud noises and is most likely clumped with fur and dust. Are there any easy ways to clean this or cheaper alternatives to taking it to the computer fixing shop?

I am A+ and Network+ certified. First of all DO NOT use a vacuum to clean your computer. This could lead to unrepairable damage, computers are extremely sensitive. Second if it was a desktop computer that you are not worried about breaking warranty on I would say remove the cover and blow it out with compressed air. In the case of a laptop my best advice to you is to use compressed air without taking it apart or to take it someplace to have it serviced. Most laptops I have worked on use jeweler sized torq screws to hold the case together.

Taking a vaccuum to the air vents would probably be very beneficial. If your brave, you can also open the computer up to vaccuum the components out. While your in there, also make sure everything is screwed down tight: Loose screws on fans have been known to make lots of noise.

Just be warned: opening the computer yourself will void any and all warrenties you may have.

The computer is most likely overheating. what i do is put a fan behind my computer so the fan inside my computer cools down and stops spinning and making noises. Sometimes it makes noises when there is a DVD spinning in the computer.
