Has anyone ever done this before? Made a Powerpoint to convince their parents to let them get a pet rat? If so, please tell me the information that you used to make your powerpoint, what your parents thought of it, and your (un)success?

also, if anyone could post a link that could show me their pet rat powerpoint, it would be greatly appreciated.

also, what might some convincing arguments be?

WOW!!!
How technologically advanced of you!
I'm already impressed!
I'm not really good with computers, but there are websites with all sorts of info and pictures.
Good arguments include: rats are very clean and quiet. They are awake during the day so they're quiet at night. They're super smart. They love people, sort of like dogs in rat clothing.
Having a rat will teach you responsibility. You will spend less time watching TV when you spend time with a rat. (OK, maybe not, but it sounds good)
There are clubs and groups for folks who loves rats, it's a way to connect with people.

Good luck.

as a former pet rat owner - I liked my rats better than I like my dogs. and they are a heck of a lot smarter and cleaner. I miss my rats. A power point might not get your point across... maybe find someone that can show you the better qualities of rats to your folks?

I was watching a cartoon one day and the kid wanted something that was really expensive, but asked for something that was twice as much at first, then kept going down in price until he got to his (what now seemed reasonable). Maybe you should do this instead of a pp, like ask for something they would really say no to, like a snake or tarantula or something, you might be able to work that angle!

Use alot of pictures of cartoon rats and make at least five slides with just the word "RESPONSIBLE" on them to show them how responsible you have become.

A pet rat powerpoint? If my kid came up to me and wanted me to watch a powerpoint for a pet that I didn't want them to have in the first place, I don't think that I'd be swayed by the fact that he'd distilled the argument into a presentational format.

Yeah, I'd be proud that he could do a powerpoint, but I still would say 'no' to the pet rat.
