I've known this gentleman for many years, but have been personally and emotionally involved for a couple years.

If you distance yourself physically first, it won't take as long. That means no phone calls, no get togethers.
If there is no physical contact, then your emotions will catch up and you will let go much quicker.

I have heard that it takes 6 months for every year you were with him. So, if you were together for 4 years, it would take 2 years to seperate yourself emotionally.

I am not sure if this is an accurate formula. Only you know your heart. God bless you.

Its not a "set" amount of time. Its up to each individual. For some it takes a great deal of time, others - not long. I hope the best for you.

I agree with KY. This also means no emails.... any form of contact will send you spinning. I know what you're feeling. But remember the reason you're asking....
