Does a pregnant woman carry a baby boy differnetly then a baby girl during the pregnancy, one higher than he other? My wife is currently 14 weeks pregnant with our 2nd child. Our first child is a girl, she always compares this pregnancy to the 1st one. Lots of differences. We will not find out the sex of the 2nd child until Jan. 18th. What are the things to look for / old wives tales to look for that would give us a clue if she is carrying a boy or a girl?

They say (old wives tales) that if you carry 'high' (belly starting up near her breast bone/right below her breasts.....more fully body belly...out to the sides and all) it will be a girl...and if carrying 'low' (belly starting more at the level of the bottom of her rib cage....and way out front like a big bubble) that it is a boy.

Also, that if the heartbeat is on the slower side, around 130-140 range, it will be a boy...and higher...in the 140-160 it is a girl.

HOWEVER......I am carrying low and in front, like I swallowed a basketball....which signals a boy....but the babys heartbeat is in the 150s which signals girl.....

I am DEFINATELY havign a boy....so I think those old wives aren't too accurate! lol

Good luck to you and congrats!

It depends on the woman, her body and the baby.
With my daughter everyone was sure she was a boy because I looked like I had eaten a basketball (high and round). I knew she was a girl but all the old wives had me wondering.
With my son I carried the same way (except alittle more tush) so everyone thought he was a girl, I even had one old wife tell me he was twin girls :)
The only way to be 100% is when the child is born and the doctor tells you or you have an amnio. (cause even ultrasounds are not 100%, ask my cousin who was told that her daughter was a son from the ultrasound)

It's an old wives tale, every woman carries different regardless of the gender of the baby.

i believe in these old wives tales, my first child was girl and this baby i new it was boy, all movement was very low and the heartbeat was lower......and with my first one i never had morning sickness but with my boy, oh goodness, i thought i was going to have to move into my bathroom, but who knows though they could be wrong but they seemed to work for me....

Girls are usually carried out front and boys all over. That's all I know.
