is it a dangerous reaction? on a scale from 1-10 (1 being safe, and 10 being dangerous) how would you rate the reaction?

i'm pretty sure i'm using about 10mL of 0.5M HCl. is that going to result in a dangerous reaction?

The molarity in which you are using is not very strong (but don't get me wrong still don't pour it onto your skin) so make sure you where safetly googles other than that I would put it as a 3.

Its very energetic and produces heat and splatters and even sparks depending on the concentration. preform this reaction under a hood in a Pyrex beaker with rubber gloves and goggles.

both HCL and NaOH burn skin and clothes on contact., so be careful pouring. Using the concentrated reactants is NOT recommended. Hydrate to 1 mole or less before mixing. When hydrating NaOH, a lot of heat is produced, and splattering. pour the water in to the concentrated NaOH a bit at a time and let it cool before each new water application.

it's totally safe, but remember, HCl is a medium strong acid, be careful. If you get HCl in you skin, use you NaOH to react all with the HCl, otherwise you will get burned by acid

Make sure of what concentration of each your using
The reaction will produce a lot of heat
the HCl and the NaOH will change to HOH or H2O and NaCl or salt and will be harmless

MAKE SURE TO GET THE AMOUNTS AND THE CONCENTRATIONS RIGHT!!!

if the molarity of each substance is high, very careful.
you are talking about a strong acid, and a strong base.

however, you can dilute either one, and mix them, safely..

it is not dangerous at all.
The most improtant thing is that you have to be careful with the two substances, they are strong base and acid
