I used to smoke 5 packs of cigs a day for 20 years
I quit on my own with no help. Play mental games with yourself,
It worked for me. one small step at a time.
I did not smoke for 10 minutes wow I am going to try for 10 minutes more, Wow I havent had a cig for 1 hr , i am going to test myself and try for another, so on and so forth. days went into weeks, I always kept a pack of cigs and lighter on me at all
times so I knew i could anytime I wanted to .A good friend
who also quit told me never take that 1 puff after 2 weeks
because you would be hooked again. I Really wanted to
but I didnt. I drank a lot of water and went to bed early for two
months , I have not had a cigarette for 15 years and I do
not want one . My wife is still smoking..that even made it
harder

I quit smoking nine hours ago, and till this minute I Havenn't even thought about it. One thing I do, is to find something to do, so that my mind is occupied by other things. For me, I live in Germany and click around yahoo!7 answers. Just for reading an other language.
Maybe think for whome you doing it. Girlfriend, wannabe girlfriend which is Nonsmoker? Kids?
Even I was no big help, I wish you luck.

Don't eat !! or you'll put loads of weight on,are you using patches?I felt like i was dying for 2 weeks and i was using the patches,after that i started to pick up and feel 100% better in every way,food tasted better,i got my sense of smell back,i didn't smell like an ashtray and i could climb the stairs to the multistorey car park without getting breathless! stick with it,i was a heavy smoker and i enjoyed it,but it is a filthy habit,good luck and take it day by day
