He was right-handed.
I've checked a number of photos of him writing, and in all of them he uses his right hand.
Based on the only photo of Billy the kid, they made a whole film around the idea of him being left-handed - The Left-Handed Gun - but it turned out this picture was a cheap type of the time which produced a mirror-image. LOL

Ugh, left handed people somehow being different. Yes, there could be some validity in the argument that since most of us are right-handed, left-handers probably use a different portion of their brain for dominant hand than righties. What I don't agree with is that they necessarily have more eccentric traits than any others. Of course they are going to have to be creative in finding solutions for their problems, they are a minority in the population.

Don't read to much into this,but yes he was left handed as all people with a different slant on life is.
An old adage presumes that left handed people can do nothing right. Said as a joke, it in fact has some truth in it, left handed people that I know would have a totally different approach and solution to any problem or idea that a right handed person would have.
