n end but the same job has been offered to a casual worker...i think i have a genuine grievance against the female boss

You do have a grievance provided you're in a union enviroment. No union, no greivance.

If you are considered a contract worker they are under no obligation to keep you on. It is cheaper for them to give the job to someone that is already a regular employee than to hire you to permanent status. Contract workers generally (In my husband's experience) make more per hour than the permanent employees. I tried to repsond to the email that you sent but it said your email could not be confirmed. A contract worker and a temp woker are basically the same thing. If they think that you are not keeping up with the job they do not have to keep you on. If the person that has been there for only 4 weeks was given the job it likely means that they think they can better handle the job.

This depends entirely on the terms of your contract and the policies in place within the company. It is much easier if you are in a union, as they will take on the case for you, but even if you are not in the union, you can still contact ACAS for information.

If you were only on a fixed term contract for a specific number of months, then you don't really have any rights here - but the company is behaving in a very unethical manner to keep taking people on with short term contracts to do a permanent job. Sadly, the law still allows for this to happen.

If you didn't get the job permanently because of your race or gender or religion, then you might have a case. Other than that, unless you're in a union where the rules say you should have the job, then you're probably out of luck.

You might talk to your supervisor and ask why the job was given to someone else. They don't have to answer that, though.

look at yourself honestly ....if you can see no reason why the job should not have been given to you then if your able to takeout a grievance .....good luck...remember though nepotism rules OK!!!!
