Eat normally. If you end up in a relationship with the guy, he is going to see you eat.

FIRST OF ALL!!! you can order ANYTHING YOU WANT! If your date doesnt appreciate you eating like a pig then he or she should tell you, for that is true courage from a guy.

BUT if you really care, a light meal you could always order a salad. Possibly soup if you know the proper manners of eating soup(no slurping).
You could order some sort of meat if you were VERY hungry. But try to order meat that is easy to cut and eat just using a fork and knife. Try not to use your hands.

Order what you like to eat. Don't worry about being a pig. If your date can't appreciate that you'd eat a good meal, let it be the last date you go on with that person.

If you need to eat big portion of food, I would suggest you to have some food at home before you go for the date!

You may order seafood (salmon steak or scallops which you can handle easily, avoid ordering lobster or grilled jumbo prawns) and steamed vegetables, show your date that you eat normal and healthy food.

As for the dessert, fresh fruit platter or souffle are healthy choices and personally I think double chocolate mud cake is gross when consuming it in front of a person that I don't know well (I love chocolate cake with vanilla ice-cream though)

Order After the guy does. If he orders something really cheap then do the same. Also consider what your wearing. No ribs in a White dress/top! Also were are you going after? If you get something with beans will you be able to hold "it" in comfortably or let go discreetly? But do not get a SALAD unless you really eat like that. Most guys Know you will order one and it shows you are "real" if you get something you love! Good Luck!
P.S My told it's polite to split the bill on the first date and if he says no insist to leave the tip!

Well if you order too little.....

1] he'll know your being too modest && is afraid to be yourself around him.

2] he'll think you have an eating disorder

3] he'll think you have self=image issues

but at the same time just consider a proper amount. like start with a salad, order a strawberry lemonade instead of water to be a bit more fun! maybe as a main course it really depends where you are/ get something you can cut into smaller pieces, maybe a finger food. but avoid something too greasy or messy.

Its always polite to have him order for you. Or the lady usually orders first. However: eat normally, but always leave a little left on your plate.. That way it shows him you had enough to eat, and that way you don't look like a pig..

A safe bet is to order what he is having, thats what some of chicks I have been out with do. One time I ordered a steak and baked potato at a nice steakhouse and then she ordered and said she would have the same thing I got, the first time it happened I thought it was kind of funny

Order whatever you like. By only ordering a little, you're not going to be full. If you order more than you can eat, you're wasteful. If you order what you would normally order without a date, your date will be proud of you not be self-conscious and for being yourself.
