No, there are more proven, effective ways to discipline children. It's not necessary to cause children any physical pain at the expense of "teaching them a lesson."

NO. I don't think corporal punishment is appropriate at all. I do however have a small problem with the fact that they don't fail the kids anymore. We are most definately going to end up with a lazy, very lazy generation of adults. What exactly are they teaching the kids by not failing the failables? Oh I have many issues with the school system. But corporal punishment is not one of them.

I grew up in a time when a paddle was used, hurt for a few minutes and would get over it, today kids are most likely to get pissed and attack, what would a teacher do? If it escalates a teacher can't punch or strike an underage kid by law, answer: NO

No, it's just a lawsuit waiting to happen. If parents can't teach manners and common courtsey to their children, corporal punishment isn't going to solve the problem at school.

God no - I cant think of anything worse than having to resort to physical violence in my job! I couldnt and wouldnt do it! There are many other ways to ensure teachers have the authority to reinforce sensible punishments for students - full parental support would be a good start!

With out a doubt. This came up at work the other day. We all agreed that it was a suitable form of punishment. If I got a spanking at school then I got one at home too and I turned out to be a productive member of society. The fear and humiliation of getting spanked at school kept me from screwing up. I plan on spanking my kids. If anyone has a problem with it they can go jump of a bridge. No one has a right to tell me how to raise my kids as long as they have cloths, food to eat, and taken care of. If you don't want to spank your kids that's fine for you but don't try to force your view on me.

They are in the south. I went to school for a while down there, and the principal carried a big wooden paddle around with him. They should definately have it up here, kids are way too disobedient and spoiled these days.
