iPod shuffles are for very basic music needs...they only store about 250 songs..they have no screen or ability to play photos or games. The iPod Nano has a newer, brighter backlight screen that can hold 500-1000 songs, hundreds of photos and play games. Keep in mind, however, iPod Nanos CAN NOT play downloaded iTunes games (Pacman, Mini Golf, etc.)

With the shuffle you don't have a screen or a click wheel and you can't make any playlists and all your songs are basically in shuffle mode and there is less space to store music in but on the bright side it's extremely compact and if you're an active person the shuffle comes in handy because of its small size. The nano on the other hand is a smaller version of the regular ipod but you can't play videos or download any of the games from itunes but you can store pictures and music and create your own playlists but the capacity way smaller than a regular ipod but it's much smaller.

The ipod nano has a 2,4 or 8 gig capacity. While the shuffle only has a 1 gig. The nano also has a screeen and the ability to choose the song you want. While the shuffle does what it implies and simply shuffles everything (though you can play a pre set play list). Overall the shuffle is good for a person who wants it for excercise and the nano is for a person who loves music.

ipod nanos have more space (you can buy different sized hard drives for different prices), and you can make playlists. The shuffle pretty much you load a bunch of music and it's totally random. I'd go with the nano, they're super small (I have one) and have more space than the shuffle but the randomness would annoy me because i like to make playlists.

the nano has a screen, the shuffle doesn't so you can't select your song it just shuffles the songs randomly. The nano has other features like a photo section, and a clock. The nano has games and the shuffle doesn't.
