Pet hog (like the kind you eat) no.
Pot belly bigs, either minature or regular sized would be fine. I know of 2 families that treat them like a dog (actually, the dogs stay outside). The pig gets the run of the house and if it needs to go to the bathroom, when they are gone there is a litter box full of sawdust, and if they are home it grunts at the door. They take it for walks and everything....pretty cute.
Pot bellies are extremely neat and easy to litter train.

Why Not a pet is a pet!!! if u can have cats, and dogs, and Teach them right from wrong! then u can do the same for a pig!!! so their good enough to eat but not good enough to be in the house!!! u should be Able to have what ever Firkin Pet u choose, and tell her that's for Better or Worse.. we should show loyalty to our Animals, what ever kind they are! come on let It stay in the house!!!

if it is a potbelly pig or a small pig then yes. If it is a 600lb farm pig, then it should be outside because it is probubly too big and could break things and all. But some people have really big dogs and they say that pigs can be smarter than dogs, so really it's your descision.

Yes, it is OK to have a pet pig in the house.

But should you? Should anyone?

When you raise it from a baby piglet in the house it gets accustomed to the "good life".
Then later when it's too big and heavy to really feel comfortable in the house, what then? It must readjust to the harsh realities of outdoor life.
How will you feel about your choice then? When he or she is standing out in the weather like the barn yard animal it is? Will you at that point wish you had not conditioned her to the "good life"?
Will you feel guilty? Will she suffer a form of not belonging?
She won't exactly be a barn yard animal and she won't exactly be a house pet. She will be a bit of a misfit, won't she?

It is difficult for us to face the reality of what we bring on our beloved pets when we bring them into our homes and condition them to things that they can't enjoy for the fullness of their lives.

I had a potbelly pig, that stayed in the house, but I later put her in with the others outside b/c she was getting to big, and she seemed to like the outdoors alot more.

That's for you and your wife to decide. If your asking if it's okay for the pig and if it's okay as far as the law goes, then yes.
