About a year ago I went to a wedding and ended up sleeping with the maid of honor, the problem is it was my mom's wedding. There wouldn't have been a problem, but we actually hit it off and dated for 5 months without anyone finding out, but we then broke up (it was reeeeaaallly ugly). She lived pretty far away, so since we broke up I haven't had to worry about seeing her and dealing with the awkwardness, but now she is moving back within 15 minutes away, and I'm sure she'll be stopping by fairly often. Is there any way to deal with this, avoid her, sit down and talk everything out? Any ideas?

Not sure if this was clear, she is one of my mother's closest friends, that is why she'll be stopping by a lot.

If you broke up with her and it was really ugly, then what makes you think she'll be stopping by fairly often? Just because she's going to be living fairly close to you doesn't mean she wants to see you anymore than you want to see her.

Since you are an adult I see no reason to worry about your mom's reaction about you and her having a relationship. If you haven't been in contact since the breakup don't resume it now. (I wouldn't instigate it anyway). If she contacts you and wants to resolve issues, you can listen and see what she has to say. If you just want to bury the hatchet and be friends, do it. Maybe you are worrying needlessly. She may have a man in her life now and may never bother you. Just gotta play it by ear and see. Obviously, she didn't want it out in the open either or she wouldn't have kept the secret for 5 months. She may have the same concerns as you too. Maybe by mutual consent you can be sociable in front of your mom and avoid each other the rest of the time.

Well, it doesn't sound like you love her, so just try to talk things out. Resolve it. If you cant talk to her about it, then just put the past behind you. You cant act like it never happened. It did, and there's nothing you can do about it. Just be friendly. DO NOT get into an arguement, etc. Keep it civil. An arguement will not help the situation. Be smart about what you do. Good luck!

Since its in the past, it wont really matter unless she was dating someone else at the time or if you were attached yourself.

You have the right idea. Sit her down and talk to her about the best action to take. It may be to tell everyone what you two did or maybe it will be to leave it in the past.

Good Luck!!

Nothing bizaar here. Now if you would have hooked up with your mom after she just got married, now thats bizaar. This alldepends on what you want and what makes you so sure that this is what she wants now. Talk it out and then go from there. Life will go on,I promise no matter what happens. Good luck

YOU CAN HOPE SHE DOESN'T GET IN TOUCH BUT, IN THE EVENT SHE DOES, BE HONEST AND KIND WITH HER.
