I work in a really casual office environment, what can I wear that will be both professional yet not too dressy. Suits are definitely too much in this office

I wouldn't wear jeans, mini-skirts or strappy sandals - they just don't look professional for work. I wear nice slacks, a pretty sweater, and nice high-heeled loafers. This way you always look put-together and others know you take your job seriously.

I think...

A baby pink (Or, if you aren't too much into girly colors, try baby blue or light green,) button up over shirt with long sleeves. Maybe like a blouse. Or not, it doesn't matter. Try getting one that has vertical light stripes, so it can be baggy yet at the same time slimming. Wear a nice white tee under that is hard to see under the over shirt, but fine so if it gets too hot you can take off the button shirt and have something cool on underneath.

Now for the bottom, you should either wear a Grey skirt or black or dark Grey pants. Again, Vertical lines if any. Comfortable Shoes!!! Don't stress over some fancy high heels. Flat bottom slip ons with a comfy back are cute but not dressy. Maybe like some keds. Depending where you are shows if there are many around. I am in North Carolina and they are SO in style. So, just try.

And if you don't have anything relatively close, you can probably go to any department store or walmart or something and find something close. Of coarse, I don't know you and your sense of fashion. But whatever you wear I'm sure you'll be wearing the perfect work wardrobe! :)

You can stock up on a lot of black and curdoroy pants, a lot of casual dresses, and skirts. I'm not talking about the skimpy skirts, a regular, businesslike form of skirt. And a lot of black shirts, red shirts, silver, and white shirts with pretty and unique designs. Dresses are always nice and not always that dressy, you can buy different dresses that don't have to be totally fancy.

If you have suits already, break them into separates. Wear the jacket with a fun printed skirt or trousers of a complementary color.
Top the suit skirt with a cardigan sweater or khaki blazer over a lace-trimmed cami.

If you wear a dress, be sure it says "Career" instead of "Cocktails at 7:00."

When you update your wardrobe, buy separates that can be worn in different combinations.

Just remember to dress for your position or the position you want to grow into. You don't want your staff to dress better than you do!

Depending on the work situation, I would say something humble but not like you are going to a funeral. For example, a skirt or nice dress pants with heels and a dressy blouse.

Workroom clothing is always a tough environment, lol, I'm not a girl, but I think places like JC Penny's have a section like that, depending on how your boss is. Relaxed: regular clothes, like I said earlier, JC Penny's stuff. Uptight: you might have to wear dressy stuff like suites. Sorry.

I'd suggest a pair of smart-ish trousers - plain black ones, being the obvious choice, with a more casual top - a neat plain fitted t-shirt maybe, or a pretty blouse. I'd say you'd be fine with most things, just avoid jeans.

Don't wear:
- sandals or open type shoes
- tennis shoes
- jeans
- shorts
- t-shirts
- phrases, logos, political statements, etc.

SO, wear:
- skirts
- pants
- Docker type pants
- sweaters

Or the best way, is wear what the other people you work with wear. Dress more than less until you know.

Maybe you could wear a casual knee length skirt with just a normal white blouse.
