Well it depends. An mp3 can vary in size from 4 gb to 12 gb, depending on the length of the song and other variables. It can even go up to 100 GB if you have full CDs all compiled into an mp3. But for a normal 3-4 minute song, a size of 7 gb, about 143 songs would fit in a GB.

it holdas about 250 songs and u should also know seeing that i just discovered this when san ipod says its 1 gb it isnt exactly 1gb probably a little less. i just but a 2gb ipod for christmas but it is really 1.7 gb

First, it depends on how long the song is. Most albums are from 40 MB to 100 MB. So, you could probably fit an ESTIMATED 10 albums per gigabyte.
