depends on the car and the radiator..some bigger some smaller. then also depends on the mix of antifreese and water. but when filling it in a car..u are actually filling hoses and engine block and heater core up with water as well. so what u need to do is a rough guestimate on the mix..to fill up the radiator..then run the car so that the new fluids circulate through the block...it is best to do this with just water first so u can flush the system draining all old fluids..then closing the drain plug then adding the coolant and water...then while the car is running go ahead and top off the radiator. for ur cooling system to operate propperly the radiator needs to be full and the radi cap tight. so that way the presure inside can build up like it is supose to. after u do that..on most cars there is also and overflo bottle..on the bottle there is a cold and a hot mark on the side.... when the car is cold make sure fluid level is up to the cold line..and ur good to go.

It depends on the size of your car. I have a Durango V-8 and it holds 12 quarts which is 3 gallons. A smaller vehicle will have 6-8 quarts, or 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 gallons.

well that depends on how big it is of course.and if you only put water in it,, it won,t be there very long.
ex.put some water on your stove in a pot and boil it 20 or 30 min later it would be gone.
try this buy a gallon of antifreeze, get another empty gallon jug ,pour half the antifreeze into the empty jug ,then fill both up to the top with water..now you have 2 gallons.that should be enough..
