I like Stephen Covey's Seven Habits of Highly Successful People. He's studied leadership a lot and has a lot of great life lessons in that book.

Oh boy...well you kno wut...i've heard a quote once & its kept me going thru everything.."We all have the power, the difference is how we use it.." & i really wish i remember who said it but anyway. I want to give you this advice. You have the power to be a leader, just like anyone else, you just have to use it correctly. Gain your self control by thinking calm. It's a similar technique that people in the arctic use. When they think warm thoughts, they actually feel warmer. Get my drift? If THINKING doesn't work, i want you to say out loud to yourself, it doesnt have to be very loud, but say "I need self-control," you may have to say it more than once, just say it as much as it takes. You can have a leadership-type personality by being a leader. You don't have to be cocky and think you're better than everyone else, but you can believe that you have the power and use it. Make good decisions for the rest of the group. People hate change, but leaders devote change for the better, and even sometimes, the worse. But, you still believe your a leader, and if you lead your people through to the right choices then life is good, and you have succeeded. Now, go change the world... just kdding..i dont expect you to do that, but you CAN go beyond expectations.
Good luck!

Interesting question.

I'd say the first step is to decide what's important to you and make sure that your values are considered in everything you do.

I'd pick up a copy of "7 Habits of Highly Effective People" by Steven Covey. You can find at any bookstore.

The most important concept of being a good leader, is being a good follower.

Just DO SOMETHING.

Quit talking about it (reading about it?) and start doing it.

You'll be surprised at how many people will clap................ and criticise. But you will still be better at it than those who are still talking (reading?).
