lol..good question..um well maybe they just wanna start off whispering and then if it doesnt work...make their voices a little louder...i think its just so that the person who´s asleep doesnt wake up with a shock to a loud noise, you know?

I think it is because yelling is a little to harsh. My mom totally disagrees.
I whisper to not wake everyone up, but just one person...
