What's the best way to stay out of the whole gangsta, prep, hick, geek, goody-goody, metrosexual, or any other sterotype?

No matter what, people will find a label for you. Of course, if you hang out with all kinds of people ( or none at all) you might be able to confuse people as to what you are. I've been labelled all kinds of things, never any that I thought really suited me.

Education. People are raised to hate other people. My father could have been Archie Bunker, but one of my best friends growing up was black.
