Sounds like you may be inadvertently connecting to someone else's network. If you go to Control Panel->Network Connections you should see your wireless network connection. You can select Properties and then go to the Wireless Networks tab. This lists any SSIDs that it will attempt to connect to. Just delete any you don't recognize, or just move yours to the top.
As for the WEP key, you can log on your linksys with any web browser, as was stated above, with http://192.168.1.1. Other manufacturers default IP may be different. Once logged in you can view the WEP Key and copy it to a file or write it down.
I suggest using WPA if your router supports it. Even if your laptop wireless card does not support it, you can still use WPA without buying any hardware with this free client software from McAfee...

Using the PC that is hard-wired to the router. Login to the router via IP such as 192.168.2.1 or something similar. There would be a heading saying 'security'. Click on security and change the password. The password that your going to change is the WEP key.

Its not asking your Uncle for the key because he has it set in his wireless settings on his computer. If you have setup a password already on your router but forgot the password you need to reset it, by a butotn in the back on the router. If you have not forgot it, but your just getting annoyed go into your wireless connections and go into properties, then click on the connection you want to auto connect and click on the properties. go to advanced tab and select auto connect to the network when in range

a few issues you have here?

Have you forgotten your WEP key (ie you put your own one in (not the one that Dlink supplied)? - if you have put your own one in you will have to reset you router - there should a reset on the router

The other issue at - your uncles house - are trying to connect to his wireless connection ???

then there may be other issues as well - firewall and security setting etc

provide us with a bit more info - please ;)

i don't think of i could want the two. to need to be forgiven you possibly can have had to have achieved something incorrect. i could desire that i would not would desire to ever do something so incorrect as to would desire to plead for forgiveness. One would desire to be waiting to say sorry and that's the top of the difficulty. As for desirous to be forgotten, does all and sundry EVER want to be forgotten?
