There were a few offers before Chrismas of free tivo if you signed up for 2 years. Cant find it now. I hate mail in rebates. Anyone have a link?

You can still go to www.tivo.com and buy a 40 hour refurbished unit - free - if you pay for one year's of service. That's about all I could find for "free".
They should be giving these units away soon - with over 4 million subscribers, they are making way too much money on the monthly fees they charge.
You could also consider upgrading your computer to Windows Media Center - that offers a "tv guide" like service and you can record shows directly to your computer. You would also need to install a new graphics card with a tv tuner, but if you compare the cost of tivo's service and doing it yourself, you'll be surprised.
