Some websites will download spyware and other junk onto your computer without you ever knowing it. If you use siteadvisor (www.siteadvisor.com) it will tell you if a website will download anything to your computer whenever you use a search engine. I use this and it is a very fast and easy download that takes less than 5 minutes.

You get spyware from every mouse click on the internet. Everything from from a cookie to a few lines of code to malicious spyware that interferes with the operation of your computer. You are more likely to get a virus from downloading an infected file, as the virus goes with it.

If you have a standard antivirus and anti spyware, the chances of getting a virus are less. Further you should restrict your browsing to reliable sites that are known to you. Never open a popup. I can give a few links that offer free virus and spyware removers...!You may be having a virus or spyware installed on your PC. Norton, AVG , Avast are free antivirus software. Ad-aware, Ewido are free spyware removers. You can download free softwares at

Hi,
If ur using a weak/outdated browser then there is a possiblity that u get viruses/spyware. This happened to me 3 weeks ago.

Secondly, u can also get viruses/spyware from downloading. I would recommend u to download only from trusted websites.

Hope that helps.

spyware, by visiting a website, sometimes viruses too. but viruses mostly get into a computer by someone doing something stupid like opening a file they have no idea what it is or where it came from. you also get spyware from instaling programs that also install a bunch of junk

If you use an up-to-date operating system (XP or Vista) and keep it updated with all critical patches, your chances of getting infected by simply visiting a website will be greatly diminished.

If you are still using, let's say, Win98 which is no longer supported or updated, you can expect a lot of malware by simply viewing malicious sites.

The still supported versions of Windows have regular scheduled updates on the 2nd Tuesday of every month. Remember to get them!

2. Puts a large list of suspect websites into the Internet Explorer restricted zone where they will be restricted in the techniques they can use to deliver malware.

3. Blocks a large list of 3rd party tracking cookies permanently.

What do you think your computer does everytime you visit a website that is not in your cache already? It downloads the website and everything you see that to a temp folder on your computer. So yes your always downloading while your on the internet, that is why you have a cookies/web advisor level you can mess with in internet options..
