Personally I would go for a foreign (Japanese) vehicle. They normally outlast an American in the long run, but if you want something pretty powerful (and cheaper since it's not 'import') then I think the American vehicles would win that.

imports. American cars are poorly constructed and badly engineered. Also the depreciation on them is incredible. A good foreign car holds value much better. I'll never buy a domestic ever again.

Honda, Toyota seem to be most reliable, especially for Certified used auto's for both manufacturers.
Remember Toyota -sold here is manufactured (including Lexus) in the golden USA!

American cars are cheaper and better safety ratings while foreign (especially Japanese ones like Honda or Toyota) last much longer like 10 years or more.
So it's up to you really. But I would really go for a foreign one.
