Shouldn't they just stop doctors and hospitals to stop their over pricing of $400 visits for a cough?

Since when is it the governments problem if a natural disaster hits your town but you didn't get out when they told you to?
If you live below sea level your gonna get flooded, if you live in 'tornado alley' your house will be destroyed... your the dumb@$$ that lives there, the gov't didn't tell you to live there.

Since when is it the government's job to support people that don't work hard enough on their own to get hand outs from our taxes?
That they proceed to buy nikes or cars instead of food or birth control with.

joloinaz...

you actually helped prove my point that the governments only job should be to not let the doctors and medicine companies over charge... We shouldn't be paying $400 for a bottle of medicine that took $10 to make. I know how you feel, my grandmother died at the early age of 56 and was paying over $1000 a month for her prescriptions, but there is a big difference between you and the freeloaders that expect all these perks for nothing.

I have a problem with both the creation of bureaucracies and increased taxes. My biggest problem with the Health Care Bill is really neither. Just like every other program that comes out of Washington (or, for that matter, State capitals) this bill will be loaded with sweet heart deals for the "friends" of the legislators! If you doubt me, pick up a copy of the latest issue of Rolling Stone magazine! They have an excellent article about the health care bill and what is being done to the American people. The public option was a fine idea ... until the government officials started to make changes that gave little "gifts" to the insurance industry, the drug industry, and the rest of the health care industry. The end result will be more of the same crap we have come to expect from Washington! A program that does not do what it was intended to with costs at least 5x (more likely 10x) the original estimate! In the end, the only thing that will be "solved" by the health care bill will be the unemployment problem for family members of the elected officials! They will need a lot of new (very well paid for very little work) administrators for this new program! I love your comment about government bureaucrats "lazy people who still get paid for doing a halfassed job" ... there must be more people out there that see the truth of today's government than I thought!

It isn't the government's job to pay for my health care, but it is their job to make sure that their citizens have affordable health care available to them. Doctors/hospitals charge such prices to help pay for the outrageous insurance they have to pay because of the high number of frivilous malpractice suits. I don't have the answer to this problem, but that is why we elect officials we trust can solve these problems to the nation's benefit.

It is the government's job to help the people affected in a natural disaster. Has it ever occurred to you, and it should if you have long days in ghettos, that most of those people did not have the money to leave town? People who have a good income, good credit and lots of credit cards could afford to leave, stay in hotels, etc. If you were poor and had no family out of town just where were you supposed to go? Should they be punished for not being upscale by being ignored and left to starve and die? Not hardly. Katrina was a large scale screwup, there's no way to get around that no matter how you try to spin it. If everyone moved to areas of this country where there was no chance of any natural disaster happening a good many of our largest cities would be deserted. Should everyone move out of California because the Big One is coming? Should everyone leave Texas because twisters can kill you? How about Iowa, Indiana, Illinois, and the rest of the Midwest in the path of tornados? They should leave and move where to make you happy? The whole East Coast should be deserted by your theory due to the possibility of hurricanes. Please, I know you said you've had a long day, but come on.

Bravo!!! I have been screaming the same thing for long time on ALMOST all of your topics. But one thing got me.... Yes the govt. should stop price gouging on health care. But ya know as far as paying for my health care, there are those of us who worked our little butts off and got throught college with a dual degree in business working overload credits and three jobs and then went on to set up a business and actually really begin to Kick some booty and then bamm right then and there you are slammed with a terminal dibilitating, crippling, incurable disease. Before you can really get yourself all set up (like retirement), your kids are half grown, you just bought your home and a new car, and its suddenly all put on the line and you are powerless to get up and work. you did everything right, you worked hard you paid into your taxes, your social security, your MEDICARE,(clue they don't pay for @#$% ) now you are seriously ill and how are you suppose to pay for your healthcare costs that your social security and medicare doesn't cover?and get to the doctor?and god forbid afford medication? Didn't I pay the government my hard earned moneys to insurance that I would not have to worry about any of that. IF YOU ASK ME (which you did) YES THE GOVERNMENT SHOULD TAKE CARE OF MY LIFE SUSTAINING NEEDS of proper healthcare. Now that point made, I really do strongly agree with all of your other "long day in the ghetto" feelings and views. from one "long day in the sick seat" to another "long day soul"

So sorry for your unhappy New Year, hope things get better. Try to focus on happier things, don't direct your anger at unfortunate people, it only makes you bitter. Anyway, Happy Next Year, I'm sure there are many things you can be thankful for. Good Luck!

That's the Democratic Ideal. Everybody winds up paying a tax rate like the British and every slacker in the Country gets a free ride.

I live in tornado alley and have worked hard all my life to build a life for my family and have paid thousands of dollars in taxes and do so willingly and fully expect my government to do the right thing for any and all Americans. I guess all of those of us living in Oklahoma, Texas, Kansas, Nebraska, Iowa, Missouri, Tennessee, Mississippi, Indiana, Ohio and lately Florida...just need to pack it in...because apparently the government didn't tell us to live here/there...

Think before you rant next time.

Since FDR.
He took this nation from believing we should take care of ourselves and have the government to do it all. Each generation we think that is the way to go.
