CD-R stands for Compact Disc wRitable while CD-RW stands for Compact Disc ReWritable. With CD-RW you can erase the data burned on the disc and put on new, different data. CD-R's tend to last longer and are better for archiving data, while CD-RW's are good for making constant small backups or for burning that is only for short-term use (such as transferring files).

Okay, here's the thing. CD-R (are called CD-Writables[R]) they are usually used for music purposes. However, a CD-RW (ReWritable), is usually used for photos. CD-R are only able to record data once. CD-RW can add data repeatedly until the cd is full. Most people would use CD-RW for photos for this reason, if they want to keep adding photos or exchanging, deleting, etc. CD-R are better for music because you can burn a CD and not have to waste some more money on a CD-RW when you don't have to, because you probably aren't going to have to go back on it. But, this does not mean that you can't use CD-RW for music files or vise versa with CD-R and photos. That's just how most people use the discs. I hope this helped you!

The difference is that a CD-R disc is a recordable disc, meaning that you can record media files onto it while a CD-RW disc is a rewritable disc, meaning you can write files onto it, resave file, erase files, and add new files. However, if you finalize either type of disc the media becomes permanent. SO, basically the RW isn't as permanent as the R.

Hi,
Cd- R is a normal which on which data can be 'burnt' only once whereas a CD-RW can be burnt several times.
CD-R basically means compact disk rom whereas
CD-RW means compact disk re writer.

Hope that helps.

DVD-R and DVD +R are merely distinctive names for recording formats. some older DVD gamers will in basic terms play DVD-Rs and a few will in basic terms play DVD+Rs. Get one in each and every of each and every and spot how your DVD participant likes them. maximum extra modern-day gamers won't have a topic with the two. ignore your CD Burner, because of the fact it could no longer get admission to the two DVD format, in basic terms CDs.
