What do you expect from a site like this ?

What I mean by that is this . There are many people on here who get on their high horses when some posts a Q or comment about fat, racist , gays , religion or whatever else you may find offensive . If you have an issue with what someone has posted simply dont answer the Q and move on or find another site . At the end of the day we are all free to post whatever we please so why do some many feel the need to get angry about it . If you want sweetness and light go on to a christian website.

To answer your main question, I expect people to Answer questions with intelligence, knowledge, experience and a modicum of respect.

Some questions breach Community Guidelines and others sneak in "under the bar". How a potential Answerer disposes with a question is a matter of choice.

We need an "Adult Section" where kids don't muck about.

We need Y!A to behave itself and cease issuing Violation Notice emails when there exists no substantive violation of said Guidelines.

This is what I "...expect from a site like this".

And so should every adult participant.

Carla, so far I have appreciated the few postings you have made. I agree, those who become ar*sed may be really over reacting all the way round and might do better to move to another question.
I like to benefit from free speech in the form of being able to read the questions posted by various individuals with a variety of viewpoints.
At all times I think it important to be respectful, especially when posting with an opposing perspective. Sadly, many people lack the tolerance, grey matter, or patience to even read the question and supporting ideas before posting!

To tell you the truth I, too, am disgusted at what's out there and the poor parents who are trying to teach their young children values, class, dignity and morals are considered to be 'stricked'. They are told they are not allowed to disciplain their children because if they ground their son/daughter they have to live with the consequences of when the kid opens the window and screams out 'help, my parents are abusive to me'. Without any questions asked the nosey people out there will call the police and have the child taken away from them. That's the only thing the social workers accomplish because I have heard of so many occaissions where an abused child was returned to the home where the abuse took place and is now dead.

What I hope to accomplish with my site ([e-mail]) is a haven for both children of all ages and parents to be able to visit without being bombarded by obscenities, vulgarities and violence. I would like to have a place where the children learn about other cultures, and by doing so they will learn to, if not love, respect them. The parents will not have to worry about the content published in my site. There will be NO swearing, sexual inuendos, and or discrimination of any kind.

I think people need to relearn respect and understanding. Much of these values have been lost because of the polititions as the media has become completely sensored and the people are not given to opportunity to decide for themselves what/who is right and what/who is wrong.

Yes but words sometimes hurt and I don't know why they should let it go. Who wants everyone spouting hatred and crap all day long? Shouldn't you be wondering why they are saying these things in the first place? Freedom of Speech is overrated, why do people think they can act like an **** hole just because of freedom of speech? I would just rather all the people who talk nonsense be removed and put on to a forum called 'WE ARE RACIST' then you'll get what you expect to get.

It's not an opinion either it is ignorance. You should realise that there's more to life than being a NOB. Notice you say this on the internet but you wouldn't dare do it in real life.

I have a sense of humour but if you are blatantly being offensive then you have to expect people to get miffed with it. Sometimes an answer, good or bad, just make you want to reply. When I read biggoted sh*t or a really stupid/ignorant comment I want to say something - it's about having a reaction. The world is far too apathetic, so it should be seen as a good thing getting these reactions. What I don't get is when people ask a question they could find out on google or something, that's just lazy and pointless.

For me, this site is about posing interesting, amusing and challenging questions and getting those sorts of answers back.

I must admit I get a little annoyed at some answers if it's a question and I can't be civil with an answer then I don't answer I like it on here and even when I don't know the answer I learn something from the others no need for nastiness

Judgemental claptrap is what I expected, and what I got. I am giving up for good this site is RUBBISH, most people come on here to slag others off and spout their 'holier than thou' b ollocks. Every body thinks they are better than everybody else and love telling them so. I wish I had never heard of this site, I used to come on regularly but now only if I am very very bored or just can't find an answer anywhere else. I hope to leave permanently very soon.

Thanks for the disguised preach. It really wasn' t that subtle. Not sure about the Christian websites though. There are basic tenets of Christianity which I and many like me cannot handle. The fate of unbaptised souls, the impossilbity of any soul to become one with the infinite other than via a corrupt church, the Pope the vicar of Christ, the pointless ritual designed to ensnare the uneducated. And so on, but it gets boring. Take your blinkers off. Think for yourself and fly to heaven without the so called help of charatans. Ever seen a poor Christian priest?

Simple really, This site is a great opportunity to have people with knowledge and experience, offer help to others.
