The United States is the ONLY death Penalty country with automatic appeals processes tat take 10 to 30 years towork through.
Other countries don't have the debate about whether the Death Penalty deters crime. People really do think twice before acting when they can be assured that their punishment will be swift, deadly and painful.
I, for one, believe that Saddam's death shines like a beacon in the most private secret souls of dictators like Kim Jong Il, Syria's president, and others who now know that they could be a pi**ed of US strike away from their own End of Days.

Our justice system takes a long time to execute someone after they have been convicted. This allows for more appeals and more tax dollars to support them while they rot in jail waiting to die. Apparently, the Iraqis are faster. Plus, there may have been political pressure put on the Iraqi gov. by the U.S. gov. to kill him quickly so it would look good for us.

Play as much as you could. Play soccer on a regular basis for an hour or 2 and you will see the changes.

unlike this country when the first appeal is denied it is over. Too much time and money is spent letting convicted people file appeal after appeal to run up large legal defense bills when the most of the time is just wasted. They should give people sentenced to death one appeal and limit the time for that to 30 days. Our legal system is clogged up with appeals that just take up time and are usually turned down.

Unlike here, death sentence in Iraq doesn't take forever to be carried out with 30 years of appealing. Iraq's justice system is swift and direct. If the first appealing is denied, then off with his head!.

I heard a couple of reasons. First, that there could be no recsue attempt. Second, he would've turned 70yrs old in April, and if that happened, he could not have been executed at that age.
