In terms of pregnancy, Lunar Months are used for calculation.

Lunar Month: In lunar calendars, a lunar month is the time between two successive similar syzygies (new moons or full moons). There are many variations. In Middle-Eastern and European traditions, the month starts when the young crescent moon becomes first visible at evening after conjunction with the Sun 1 or 2 days before that evening (e.g. in the Islamic calendar).

Basically, there still is no standard - it all depends on who you're talking to. Some people use a calendar month as a measure: if your LMP (last menstrual period) was on the 5th of January, you're 1 month pregnant on Feb 5th, 2 months on March 5 and so on.

Still others use the 28 day "lunar calendar" - every 4 weeks, you're another month pregnant. In this case, a standard 280 day pregnancy (dating from LMP to EDD) is 10 months long! A true lunar month is 29.5306 days long.

Lunar: 17 weeks = 119 days = 4.0297 months
Calendar: 4.25 months

Congratulations!

It can get confusing when you get into it. You're pregnant for 10 LUNAR months, because one lunar month is equal to 4 weeks. You're pregnant for 9 CALENDAR month. There are NEARLY 4 1/2 weeks in one calendar month. If you divide 17 by 4.5 you come to 3.77 so you're nearly 4 months pregnant. In couple more weeks, you'll be half way done, which is 4 1/2 months, or 20 weeks!

Congrats! Happy New Year

A full-term pregnancy is considered 40 weeks. However, your baby is also considered full-term at 36 weeks. I am amazed by how many people are so negative in the answers. In fact, most of the answers are wrong. I am 11 weeks pregnant, I have go to an informative OBGYN. SO, I think I do know the right answer. A pregnancy that lasts 40 weeks is 10 LUNAR months or 9.2 CALENDAR months. (Most OBGYN's go by LUNAR months) Therefore,. 17 weeks/4 weeks is 4 months and 1 week... However, it is very confusing with using lunar and calendar months. Just a question - have you had any visits to a doctor and are you taking prenatal vitamins? If you do have a doctor, most of them would be more than willing to answer any of your questions. Doctors do have to obtain a degree. I would not trust any answers ONLINE.
