Heat up the wax with a blowdryer and gently blot up the wax as it melts. This works! I've done it myself.

YES !! Let it harden. Then hold the wax chunk and pull each carpet fiber out of it with needlenose pliers or tweezers. Vacuum up lose bits.
If a greasy spot remains, shampoo the carpet with hot water and detegent.
It easier than installing a new carpet.

Iron it off!
Plug your iron, give it time to get hot, put a few sheets of newspaper on to of the wax, place a wet clothe on top of the paper and work on the wax by moving/changing the paper.
It works!
Have a good year
