The first was by Samuel F. B. Morse, who sent, "What hath God wrought?" (done, caused to be done.)

The last telegram has yet to be sent. Also, you should have telegrammed, "...sent by whom?"

Steve is right about the first Tele'gram', however,
the first tele'graphs' came in the form of optical telegraphs, including the use of smoke signals and beacons, which have existed since ancient times.
