The answer to your question is that the attack on Sept. 11, 2001 was an "outside" attack that was planned and carried out by associates of Bin-Laden.
Aside from that, however, people are in love with sensationalism and few things are more sensational than a conspiracy. The idea that the attacks on the World Trade Center may have been an inside job or that the US Govt. knew about it in advance or even participated, falls in line with the second shooter of the Kennedy Assassination, or the faked moon landings or the flat earth society. Some people will believe anything they read in a tabloid (how else can they stay in business?)
It's all nonsense to any educated person, but there will always be those who question out of ignorance or gullibility.
Case in point: take a few visits to the former Soviet Union area and see how many people ask you if the United States really went to the moon.
