We have a 8 month old son which we found out the sex at 18 weeks. We really wanted to know which we were having since it was our first and we wanted some of te basics. Plus it helped making it more real knowing we were having a son. I think with the next one it would be cool to wait til delivery to know the sex. I just wondered if those that have had it both ways have any insights on which they liked better. Thanks

We did not find out with our first pregnancy that she was indeed a girl. At the c section it was exciting to know that our little package was indeed healthy and a beautiful baby girl.
With our son we chose to find out ahead of time. The biggest reason was because our children were 5 years apart. I wanted to see the difference between knowing ahead of time and not knowing until the delivery. I had the same question you have.
Honestly, it was a special surprise both times. I am not partial because the surprise was exciting both ways.

I absolutely had to know!! It made buying everything easier and more fun. Also it changed the way the baby is talked about, baby became 'she' instead of 'it'. Honestly I think knowing has made my pregnancy better and helped me feel a closer bond to my baby. She is due ANY day now.
I am the only one in my family to find out what the sex is first. I have 7 nieces and nephews, and they were all a 'suprise'. My mother was dissapointed I found out, but it was my decision, not hers.

I always thought it would be fun to be surprised but I like being able to plan ahead..Besides that 9 months is so long as it is...I found out with both of mine (girl then a boy)...#3 on the way now but I don`t think I can wait!!!

Regardless of whether your find out the sex or not, having a baby is an experience, however, not knowing until that day makes it more special because you don't know what to expect.

Waiting is good, but it has the disadvantage, like you said, that you can't plan ahead of time.

i think its nice to know what youre having so that you can prepare. it helped me a lot. my pregnancy was unexpected so it was just nicer to be prepared as much as possible. plus it gives you as the parents an opportunity to have another baby shower if you have say a girl instead of a boy this time. that way, your guests know what the sex is and can buy things that are appropriate and it gives you time to register and pick out the things that you may not have gotten in your previous pregnancy GOOD LUCK!!

Waiting and finding out when the baby came. It's a fun exciting surprise.

With my two kids I wanted to know. I want to get all the cute clothes and paint the room. Plus the older child wanted to know if it was a brother or a sister.

But the next time I don't want to know. We have two girls and I just want to be surprised next time.

i think it's cool to wait but at the same time you need to know what's the sex going to be for the baby shower
