I'm 15 years old, never played goalie on ice before but have played roller hockey goalie. I'm thinking about trying out for my highschools hockey team next year but don't know if I shoudl. Is 15 too old to begin playing hockey? I know how to do the butterfly and play goalie on cement.

The old saying in music is 'You're never too old to rock and roll!".
That also goes with hockey.
15 is a great age to play. You've probably grown into a young adult and have put on some muscles. You should see if there is a hockey camp near you that can help you with the skills you need. Goaltenders have to be as good a skater as any other player. Youre already one step ahead by knowing how to do a butterfly and other moves.
Please make sure that you do plenty of stretching and leg exercises before you attempt to play.
I started learning to ice skate and play hockey for fun when I was about 18 years old, so don't be bashful about doing so! Go for it!

No not at all, especially if you have already had experience with butterfly and other goalie techniques, I would suggest first trying it on ice for awhile, and make sure you can skate. Just because you're a goalie doesn't mean you don't need footwork, skating for a goalie is just as important as any other player. But I'd say go for it, you have nothing to lose everything to gain and you never know, you seem like you know how to play goalie, its just a different condition

It's never too late.
If you have the heart to do it, you can do anything. You just have to want it.
It's probably going to take time, but if it's what you really want, stick to it and don't give up!!
A big inspirational story of me is the one of Alex Burrows of the Vancouver Canucks..I wanted to post a quote from him (the question was his advice for young players who wanted to be in the NHL). "I would tell them to believe in their dreams, that’s what happened to me. Never quit, always work hard and believe in what you can do and what you want to do when you grow up. I started to play hockey when I was young but never really thought I would be playing in the NHL because you think that there are so many other players throughout the world that want to be in the NHL. I didn’t even get drafted and just started for junior when I was 18 so I went through the coach and all the toughest steps along the road but just work hard and never forget that you have a dream and believe in your dream. Just work hard and you can achieve it."
Good luck!! Just remember that anything is possible! =)
PS
even if you can't play on ice yet, start practicing with roller hockey.. or even practice by having friends, family, etc. shoot at you. Like get a plastic net and put it in your driveway or something haha, it's fun and it will help get you started!

Read lots of books from the library and get some private lessons before you try out. Your definitely NOT too old, but you will have to beat out someone who has been playing for a while and everyone knows him. If you want it, you can accomplish it. How bad do you want it?

no, go for it!! you'r going to suck right off the bat. Hang in there and you shold be one of the best goalies in the league by the end of the season. most goalies don't do skating drills with the other players. Always do the skating drills with them.

I started playing goal at 15 and made it to the UHL, so no, it's not too late. Just work hard and immerse yourself in the game.
