I do NOT want to see statements that ONLY show how bad he is or how good he is; I want to know a bit more. I would like to know why would people vote for a person like him and elcect him as their leader? What drives them?

Staunch loyal Republican party members is one reason. They will blindly vote and biased in their beliefs for they are ignorant. The Democrats, Independents do the same thing as well. People do not research and they are lazy in general to pass on the blame to someone and the responsibility as well. The leading Republicans had no choice in that situation for the old man had blackmail on everyone, CIA ? Is there any question to that one?
The money was there as well to bribe the folks for the judgement on those tossed away votes, in Florida, and for the last election Ohio is the being investigated as well. He promised a war to the power crazed group, and the military contracts and he fulfilled it for them so that is also why. Greed and Power. The next election should be amazing there is no one any good at all. Hillary has pissed everyone off by telling the world she believes in the torture of prisoners for the truth? That is incredible, she blew chances with my vote. Have a Happy New Year and vote your conscience.

He was "installed" into office in 2000.. by the "Su-preem" court that the repub's appointed.. even though the popular vote went to Gore... so the 2004 "election" was null & void to begin with..

I think ignorant is the term.. too many otherwise bright people are simply not well informed as to how crooked our so-called voting process is.

The ignorance - or unknowing.. is how the people are led like sheep.. and the special interest groups that bought & paid for a little puppet like W.. they get all of their wishes.. $$$$

I think that Bush's political success points out a glaring flaw in
U.S. democracy-the apathy of the American people. The only
reason he ever got picked to lead was his family's political connections, which has put the Bushes ahead of the Kennedys
as the twenty-first century version of American royalty. Along
with W's personal religious beliefs allowing him to play up to the
more simpleminded Christian fundamentalist types, this adds up
to a deadly combination of corruption and stupidity. I personally
believe the Bush followers remaining are the more faithful and
hardheaded, who just can't admit they made a mistake.

As for why people would vote for him in the first place- manipulation of the less educated and unenlightened self-interest.

I've wondered the same thing....my guess is people would rather leave things the way they are then try to change them..I also think that things were a bit sketchy with the actual elections....i do not believe as many people really voted for him as they say.

It's scary...but try to have a Happy New Year anyway :)

I would say not many people like change, that he was trying to lead the country into a nice place, so they elected him a president again, besides his dad was president once when I was in third grade. But, I think he needs to be impeached, I didn't vote for him. Now, that he is out of office soon, they will vote for someone like him again. I think we have had enough of him, so get someone new in there. So, I think it's just stupidity.

He was elected to bring good moral values to the people of Iraq. He was elected to serve the best interests of corporate America with little regard for the average person. Thanks to his greatness we have a half a trillion dollar deficit. Some people have to give a little, maybe their life, job or future but in the end a pardon is always forgiving. Climb on board or go play on the freeway outside the city of Baghdad.

I think it will depend on who you ask. I know why I didn't vote for him. And I know many who did. Some voted because all they do is vote Republican no matter what. Some voted because they didn't want to deal with the alternative. Others voted for him because their theory is "at least we know what we are getting". I have friends who are hardcore republicans who now have regreted their choice.

For those hardcore republicans who voted for him just because that is what they vote for, it is like religion, it is what they know, it is what they learned and it is what they preach. Which is why I believe in separation of religion and state. Because I think it is wrong to force your beliefs on somebody else. I think it is Ok to share your beliefs but not force them on others which is why I'm proud to be an american.

As for Bush there are many reasons why I didn't vote for him and it at times has scared me to know he is our President, because of my beliefs and rights being threatened. Hope this helps you a little, you will probably get better answers from those who did vote for him.

He was elected because the american public believed that he would be a better president than the others that were in the running.
