i've had contacts for 11 years, both hard and soft lenses (i have really bad eyes) :)
contacts are a great convenience, i.e. they generally won't fall off your face and it's easier to play sports -- also, if you were like me, they look much better than my coke-bottle glasses. they're relatively easy to take care of -- just make sure you clean them and place them in solution overnight and don't overwear them.
a con might be that sometimes particles get trapped underneath them, and you'll have to run off to the bathroom and get that taken care of. with hard lenses, i sometimes had an issue with them slipping off my irises and i'd have to slip them back on.
meanwhile, feel good that your prescription is so low...i'd trade with you any day!

Either you where glasses all the time or if you prefer to wear contact lenses then you have to wear a combination of both. Why? Because your eyes need a break from contact lenses they need to breathe so my recomendation would be to wear glasses during the week and contact lenses in the weekends & don't forget to always take off the contact lenses before you go to bed.

I have horrible vision 20/200 and 20/400. My glasses lenses are really thick and heavy and if I get plastic lenses, they scratch. I've worn contacts for about 20 years. I had contacts when the lenses were hard glass. OUCH, callouses on your inner eyelids. Anyway, the new contacts are light, easy and comfortable to wear for an entire day and are easy to care for. No glasses to slide down your nose, to rest on your cheek and cause your skin to break out. No noseprint on your lens if you are lucky enough to kiss someone. I keep glasses for when I am at home. Or if the pollen season is particularly bad and my eyes are itchy. Try them, you will like them!!

Pros:
1) you don't like the way you look with glasses (vanity purposes) but need to see clearly;
2) more convenient when exercising (you don't have to worry about your glasses falling off when exercising);
3) you can wear sunglasses (or you don't have to buy prescription sunglasses--or eyeglass frames with clips)
Cons:
1) they may be more expensive or may not be covered by your insurance;
2) if you don't like touching your eyes or are extra sensitive when things get into your eyes, contacts may be difficult to put in;
3) some claim that the putting contacts in and taking them out constantly will lead to wrinkles around the eyes more quickly

Contacts have actually made my sight better. I love them i've been wearing them for about 10 years now. I do go back and forth some days glasses somedays contacts. but in the summer its all contacts. If your athletic they help out a great deal. Rowing became alot easier once i had them.

Everybody so far is right, but I'd like to add a few things. Contacts give you great peripheral vision that glasses can't. Unfortunately, you can't wear them all the time, because of eye infections, overactive reflexes (getting them in), or the setting doesn't allow them (ie chemistry class).

Ive been wearing glasses since I was five. I am 24 now. I'm actually scared to wear contacts, because I've heard of horrible and see horrible infections with contacts. So be careful. It's up to u.

well you kno the pros appearence wise and it helps when you are doin certain things but the cons are like you can get a contact buzz although i don't kno what that is. depending on what kind you get like if you get the hard kind they can cut your eye and crack. the soft kind are better but im assumin thats what your getting. they have the hydro kind. but if you leave contacts in to long it can hurt and you can lose them a lot easier

I've always worn eyeglasses...they can be made with thin lenses no matter how 'bad' the prescription seems...also there are a variety of frames to accommodate for a lot of different styles...i.e..business, party, hip hop..peace

If your not a very hygenic person, contacts can give you an eye infection so just be careful.
