Rich and light colours, no gold or silvers. Try a rich pruple, cromson or light lavender. Don't try too many blues, if you do, sheer, transluscent will work best. Green will really make your eyes pop. Emerald or dark greens will do well. Brown eyeshadows will also look good but will be better with shimmer in them and not to light or dark, medium colours.
Here we go with don'ts. Never use gold unless it's actually closer to brown than gold. Never do silver or gray colours, these will wash out and make you paler. Never, ever wear yellow eyeshadow. No bright reds. For a smokey eye, stick with dark blue instead of black. This will enhance your eye colour and make your eyes brighter.

earth tones should be nice on you I also have very dark brown eyes you can also use soft gold shadows mix and blend it with the browns, beige, conyak( it sounds like a drink i spelled that wrong) you can also use green and silver mix it in and give you another nice effect. blues are nice too for sumer and pinks mauve and plums. you can blend these colours also. don't think just cause you see them in the case that they must stay that colour often blending others together looks very nice. you will have to practice to find out which blend you like on you the most.
